The Chinese-style modernization emphasizes a harmonious coexistence between humans and nature. It sets new requirements for the construction of a beautiful China, as outlined in the 20th National Congress of the Party. Simultaneously, it provides direction for the ongoing implementation and upgrade of smart cities.

This case takes us to the first large-scale fully underground domestic waste compression and transfer station in the country—the Wuhou District Urban and Rural Environmental Comprehensive Management Center. Let's explore the exciting collision between ALVA AR technology and the construction of smart cities.

Project Background

Focusing on addressing the increasing problem of domestic waste in the high-speed urbanization process, the Wuhou District Committee and District Government have planned and constructed the country's first 2,000-ton fully underground domestic waste compression and transfer station—the Wuhou District Urban and Rural Environmental Comprehensive Management Center.

The fully underground design, along with the open park design above ground, not only effectively enhances the waste transfer and disposal capacity in Chengdu but also minimizes the impact of garbage compression operations on the surrounding environment.

This time, to further enhance the effectiveness of urban and rural environmental comprehensive management, the Wuhou District Urban and Rural Environmental Comprehensive Management Center collaborates with ALVA Systems to apply innovative technology to the daily operation and maintenance work of the transfer station. This involves using digital methods to optimize sanitation management and improve the quality of sanitation operations.

Solution

▶ A visualized digital transfer station that achieves real-time insight and management of global information.

Leveraging the digital transfer station mapped one-to-one with the real environment, maintenance and management personnel can clearly and intuitively view the internal structure and site layout of the transfer station. This enhances the efficient conduct of maintenance work and makes decision-making more targeted.

The transfer station employs the internationally leading horizontal direct compression process. The uninterrupted operation process, from compression and container movement to compaction, is visually presented through virtual means, significantly enhancing process analysis, operation management, and training guidance. Additionally, by virtually observing the entire operational process of the digital transfer station, from unloading and compression to transfer, the complex household and production waste undergoes different processing stages at various work positions and is sent to different treatment sites. Comprehensive insight into the process information and real-time monitoring of the processing stages allow for a quick understanding of the operational situation. The digitized process resources also lay the foundation for future expanded applications.
▶AR Digital Twin Sandbox - Real-time Operation and Maintenance Supervision

Utilizing ALVA's innovative AR technology to build a visual and collaborative digital twin sandbox for transfer stations. It can be deployed anytime, anywhere on any surface. With real-time dynamic data overlaid on the sandbox, managers can efficiently operate and supervise the transfer station.

▶AR Intelligent Inspection Work Card - Safer and More Efficient Inspection

With ALVA's innovative AR technology, digitize the daily inspection workflow, creating a virtual work card based on real operational scenes. Inspection personnel can minimize risks associated with personnel uncertainty by following clear location markings and inspection indicators.

▶ Leveraging ALVA's innovative AR technology to establish a digital knowledge base, upgrading enterprise resource management.

Leveraging ALVA's innovative AR applications to digitize and upgrade pre-processing center data, inspection and maintenance processes, process optimization paths, etc. This enables the construction of a sustainable knowledge repository for the enterprise, providing practical references for future operations, training, and upgrades.

Project Results

As the nation's first 2,000-ton fully-buried life waste compression and transfer station, the Wuhou District Urban and Rural Environmental Comprehensive Management Center ingeniously utilizes underground space. The upper part forms a sloping urban park, organically combining the park's form with the city space, changing people's perception of traditional waste stations.

This time, with the help of ALVA Systems' advanced mixed reality technology, the Wuhou District Urban and Rural Environmental Comprehensive Management Center has innovatively upgraded, achieving a comprehensive layout and insight into the information of the transfer station. Moreover, it has transformed important daily tasks such as operation, inspection, and training from intelligence to digitization.

Most importantly, this project once again makes the Wuhou District Urban and Rural Environmental Comprehensive Management Center a new benchmark for promoting green reduction, supporting the construction of a beautiful and livable park city.
